Here are a few suggestions about how to make best and safest use of the magical qualities and natural effects of our candles.

Lighting the candle

Wind resistant outdoor candles: lighting the outdoor candle takes only a few seconds, using a long match or lighter. The wick, which is larger and wind resistant, is soaked in wax to guarantee easy lighting on repeated occasions.
Indoor candles: before lighting the candle, make sure that the length of the wick is correct, i.e. between 1 and 1.5 cm. The wick is made in such a way that it remains curved while alight with the hottest point at the tip, in other words at the edge of the flame. This prevents it from smoking. To light it, use matches or, even better, a thin candle.

Where and how to use the candle

ll candles should be placed on a flat heat-resistant surface, away from combustible materials and from the reach of children. Never leave the flame unattended. Do not move the candle while it is lit or while the wax is still liquid.

Wind resistant outdoor candles: the outdoor candle produces a controlled flame which is however sufficiently active to resist wind movement. It is therefore made to be used outside. When there is a wind the flame can reach a height of up to 10cm. Therefore ensure that the space above it is free.
Indoor candles: make sure that the candle burns away from wind currents. If you are lighting more than one candle, don't let them burn too close together. It is vital to allow the candle to form a bowl of liquid wax in order to allow its perfumed fragrances to be released. If the flame grows too high, remove some of the wax.

Snuffing the candle

Wind resistant outdoor candles: never use water or liquids containing hydrogen to put out the candle. Nor should you blow out the flame. The correct method is to suffocate the flame with a bowl, made of terracotta or similar material, which is the same diameter as the candle holder.
Indoor candles: in order to best preserve the candle to not blow it out. It is much better to suffocate the flame using a candle snuffer which can be easily purchased. Alternatively, in the absence of other means, extinguish the candle by pressing the wick between a wet index finger and thumb.

How to remove wax
To remove wax, carefully scrape it away. With cloth, it is best to iron the underside with a steam iron, placing absorbent material over the mark, or alternatively to take it to the laundry. On objects, it is best to use a hair dryer to warm the wax, then to rub it with absorbent material.
